Volunteer Opportunities

Help us by volunteering!

The RCV PTA is a nonprofit organization that is run entirely by the efforts of our amazing volunteers!  Your involvement is critical to our success!!  The more help we get, the bigger the impact we can make on our school.

Whether you're a parent, guardian, grandparent, or other relative, we warmly welcome you to volunteer with us.  We also have many opportunities available for student volunteers who are seeking to complete SSL hours.  Please contact us for additional information!

A few of our current needs are listed below.  If you're interested in helping or would like additional details, please contact rcvptapresident@gmail.com.

Check back frequently for new opportunities!

Science Fair Coordinators

Do you love science and want to encourage our kids to love it too?  We are looking for volunteers who would be interested in taking on one or more tasks needed to support RCV's Spring 2019 Science Fair (to be held the evening of Friday, April 26th).  Many of these tasks can be done from home on your own schedule!

What we're looking for:

  • One person to find judges (about 1-3) who work or teach in a field related to science, healthcare, engineering, or math.
  • One person to organize evaluation criteria/prizes.
  • One person to communicate with students/parents about projects and track registrations.
  • (Optional) One person to lead a fun science demonstration on the night of the Science Fair!

Shadows/Helping Hands

Want to get more involved in the PTA, but not ready to take the leap into leading an event?  Try shadowing a more experienced committee member!  Absolutely NO commitment required!  This is simply an effort to help share knowledge across the organization.

When you sign up to shadow an event, you'll be cc'ed on email communications related to organization of the event so that you can get a window into how it's organized.  That's it - no additional obligation required!

We hope that this new practice will help ensure that our PTA is always prepared to smoothly transition activities from year to year, even as our more experienced families graduate from RCV!

We're currently seeking shadows for:

  • Reflections (Art) Program
  • Cultural Arts Assemblies
  • Spelling Bee (especially among 4th grade parents)

Book Fair Helpers

Did you know that we depend on volunteers to staff the Book Fair each year?  If you have a flexible schedule, please consider taking a one hour slot to help us have a successful Book Fair!

We are looking for volunteers from Nov. 8-16. There are even evening hours on Thursday, Nov. 15.

English-to-Spanish Translators (verbal and/or written)

Help us accurately communicate our messages to everyone in the RCV community!

Verbal:  Attend PTA meetings upon request, and translate what's being discussed into Spanish

Written: Translate a given text (e.g. flyers, newsletters) from English to Spanish.  Great opportunity to help from home!

Laminating Specialists (training will be provided)

Help support our teachers by reducing their lamination workload!  After being trained to use the laminating machine, simply return on a routine basis (e.g. 2-3 times per month) at your convenience to laminate materials for the classrooms.  Timing is flexible!

Recess / Lunch Helpers

Recess and lunch are two very busy times at RCV!  The staff could really use our help to give the kids more one-on-one attention.  If you have some free time during the day and would like to spend it either outside playing games during recess, or inside helping kids open their lunches, sign up here!
