We need Committee Chairs for Next Year!
Do you realize how many amazing things the PTA sponsors?!?! And all run by volunteers. We need you to help too. Please look at the Signup Genius to get an idea of responsibilities that go with each open position - not all require a great deal of time. Please ask if you have questions. And please sign up to help where you can!
Our most pressing unfilled needs are listed below:
- Secretary - Attend all RCV PTA & board meetings and record meeting minutes. Distribute and collect signature sheets to ensure quorum is met. Maintain documents for the PTA, including a current copy of the bylaws. Attend MCCPTA Training. Estimated time: ~3 hours per month (meetings included), year round.
- Fundraising Assistant - Help coordinate various fundraising events (Spirit Wear, Restaurant Nights, Buy Nothing Sell Nothing, End of Year Carnival). Estimated time: ~5-10 hours per month, year round.
- Fall Book Fair Coordinator - during the summer, contact a Scholastic rep and work with RCV staff & PTA president to find a good time for the Fall book fair (probably sometime in October, typically overlapping with an evening event date). Send out fliers advertising the book fair (can re-use existing templates). Coordinate volunteers to staff the book fair and make sure they're trained. Work with Treasurer to arrange closeout of registers at the end of each sales day. It's helpful to have the coordinator be available for a big chunk of time during the book fair, as it can be difficult to find volunteers to cover so many time slots. Estimated time: ~8 hours of planning time + 1 busy week when the book fair runs.
- PTA Reflections (Arts Contest) Coordinator - each year, the National PTA decides on a theme for the Reflections program - you just send out fliers advertising the theme at the beginning of the school year, encourage kids to participate in a variety of arts categories, collect their entries in mid-November and arrange for judging (e.g. in cooperation with VisArts staff). Transfer top entries to MCCPTA (usually by Dec 1st) for the county exhibition. Order medals & certificates from PTA website to recognize all participants (typically at a peace assembly). Estimated time: ~8 hours with heaviest work spent in September & November.
